I get this question a lot! Should I (or can I) bring my pet to our photo session? My answer is always a big YES!
I’m a HUGE pet person. I have two pups of my own! I have a 14 year old Chihuahua named Lexi and a 3 ½ year old Golden Retriever named Kala!
So naturally, because I love pets, I will always suggest bringing your fur babies along for your pictures! Here are some reasons why you might want to consider bringing your pets to your next photo session!
1. They add a unique and personal touch to your photos
I always suggest bringing “props” or personal items to include in your photos. This is a great way to add the best personal touch to your photos! You love them like your own child, so why not add them in to your photos as well? From experience, the more personal you can make your photos, the more special they are to you and will be for years to come!
2. They can lighten the atmosphere and add some fun to your session
Anybody who’s had a professional photo session can agree that the first little bit of your session can be a little awkward (which is totally normal and to be expected!) But bringing a pet along with you can be a great way to “break the ice” and get everybody warmed up to their session! It can ease nerves and adds a fun distraction to the awkwardness and will for sure warm you up quickly! Plus, they can add a ton of great “candid” photos to your gallery which always make for the best, most special photos in the end!
3. Your pets won’t be with you forever
This one makes me sad to even think about, but we all know that pets are only apart of our lives for a much shorter amount of time than we’d like. By bringing them to your session with you, you are capturing a beautiful time in your life with your pet that you can cherish for the rest of your lives!
4. You get a mini pet session within your session
If you choose to bring your pet with you to your session, I always try to get some photos of just your pet by themselves. Portraits of your pet are perfect for framing and for decorating your home! So you essentially get two sessions for the price of one 😉
